The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eric Opoku Mensah, is the academic and administrative head as well as the Chief Disciplinary Officer of the University. He is accountable to the University Council and serves as the Chair of both the Academic Board and the Executive Management Committee. In this role, he guides policy formulation, institutional development, financial stewardship, and academic excellence across UniMAC’s diverse and multi-campus environment.
His leadership has been pivotal in consolidating the formerly independent institution, GIJ, NAFTI and GIL into a unified, forward-looking university. Under his stewardship, UniMAC recently launched its first Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme in Communication and Media Studies, symbolizing the institution’s evolution into a research-intensive university and its growing continental relevance.
