Pro Vice-Chancellor

Professor Winston Kwame Abroampa is the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC).  Prior to taking up the position of the Pro Vice-Chancellor at UniMAC, He served as the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Educational Studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) since 2019.

Professor Winston Kwame Abroampa is an accomplished scholar with over 27 years of experience in teaching and research across various levels of Ghana’s education system. He holds a PhD in Curriculum Development with Teacher Education from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and a Master of Philosophy degree in Curriculum Studies from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.​

Administratively, Prof. Abroampa has extensive experience in curriculum design and has led the development of numerous B.Ed., M.Ed., MPhil, and PhD programmes, as well as professional development manuals to enhance teacher education in Ghana. He played a pivotal role in developing the new 4-year Bachelor of Education curriculum implemented across 32 Colleges of Education and five universities nationwide.​

He has also been instrumental in securing and managing grants to support educational initiatives, including a $39,000 grant for developing new Bachelor of Education programmes and a $10 million Mastercard Foundation grant for KNUST’s Covid-19 Recovery and Resilience Programme. He also serves as the Technical Lead and Co-Principal Investigator for a $500,000 KNUST-IDRC/KIX research project on the impact of culturally responsive pedagogies on early learners’ social and emotional development.​

Prof. Abroampa’s research interests include curriculum implementation and evaluation, educational policy analysis, gender-responsive pedagogies, and teacher professional identity. He has authored over 65 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters.​
