In line with Section 86 (1) of the Public Financial Management Act 2016, (Act 921), a five-member Audit Committee has been sworn in as the maiden Audit Committee of the University of Media, Arts and Communication in a ceremony held at the North Dzorwulu Campus of UniMAC. Presided over by the Director General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Eric Oduro Osae, the event had in attendance officials of the university and staff of the University’s Internal Audit Directorate.
The Director General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Eric Oduro Osae administered the oath of office and oath of secrecy to the members. He stated that, the Audit Committee is paramount in public accountability and the management of public resources. He mentioned that, the Committee’s role was in three parts; mandatory, advisory and consulting. “The mandatory function is to ensure that all necessary Audit Reports are endorsed and submitted as mandated. As an advisory body, the Committtee will focus on areas such as Finanacial Management, Internal Control, Governamnet Processes, Plocies and Risk Management”.
The newly sworn in members are as follows:
Mr. Kena Ofori-Atta – IAA Representative (Chairperson)
Mrs. Doris Owusua Tetteh – ICAG Representative
Mrs. Rita Sarkodie Baffoe – IAA Representative
Dr. Koryoe Anim-Wright – Council Representative
Dr. Evelyn Oduro – Council Representative
On his part, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo thanked members of the Committee for accepting the task. He assured the Committee of Management’s cooperation in the performance of their functions.
Present at the ceremony were Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, Ag. Rector, UniMAC-GIJ, Dr. Samson Fenuku, Ag. Rector, UniMAC-GIL, Dr. Samuel Nai, Rector, UniMAC-NAFTI and Dr. J. Sika Akoto, Ag. Registrar. Others were Mrs. Harriet Karikari, Deputy Director of Audit, UniMAC-GIJ, Past Chairpersons of Audit Committees and other officials from the Internal Audit Directorate.
